Drone survey for mines and quarries
Measure pits, benches and stockpiles from the air, without putting surveyors near working faces.
What the survey gives you
A working mine changes shape every week. Benches advance, stockpiles grow and shrink, haul roads move. A drone survey records the whole lease area in a single flight and turns it into a measurable 3D model, so production, planning and compliance teams all work from the same current picture.
Why use a drone
Walking a pit with a GNSS rover is slow and puts people beside unstable faces and moving machinery. From the air, the same ground is covered in a fraction of the time, with far more points measured, and the survey team stays at a safe distance.
Where it is used
Stockpile reconciliation
Month-end volumes for ore, overburden and finished product, measured the same way every time.
Pit progress and planning
Up-to-date surfaces for mine planners to compare actual excavation against the plan.
Lease boundary and compliance
A dated, georeferenced record of the working area for statutory submissions and audits.
Haul road and drainage design
Gradients and levels taken from the terrain model for road and water management.
Questions about mining
More answers in our drone services FAQ, or see how typical projects run.
How are stockpile volumes measured with a drone?
The drone photographs or scans each pile from above. The data is processed into a 3D surface, and the volume is calculated between that surface and the base level of the pile.
Does the mine need to stop work during the survey?
Usually not. The drone flies above the operation and the flight is coordinated with the mine's safety officer and blasting schedule.
How often should a mine be surveyed?
Most operations choose monthly surveys for reconciliation, with extra flights after major blasts or before audits.
